“Kalmebakkte”

“Kalmebakkte”  is the name of a Sami grave in one of my home mountain in Tärna.An Akkja is hidden in a cave high up on the mountain Artesfjell .In the Akkja lie the remains of a young girl. Swedish archeologists investigated the grave 1951. The girl’s skull was removed and is now in the Historical museum collection in Stockholm Sweden. The grave dates back to 1780-90 (Akkja is a reindeer sledge). Glass, enamel, video 80 x 160 x 60 cm 2014
